Postage Stamps
2024 Graphis New Talent - Honorable Mention
These stamps were part of a project for my Type and Image Design class. The instruction was to create a series of four 1x1.5” stamps and a pane to display them covering a topic that was different from our lived experiences. I chose to cover the Onondaga Nation’s role as the Wampum Keepers and highlight four of their current wampum belts. My role in this project was researching and illustrating all four stamps in addition to the pane and writing any necessary copy. I had initially wanted to do this look for my project but turned away from it for my first draft to do a more geometric look. I was very unhappy with my first draft and decided to scrap it and start over and this was the result. This project taught me that sometimes it is ok to start over from the beginning.
