Insignia playing cards
The primary objective for this project was to develop a graphic concept for an original deck of cards comprising of 52 cards, four suits of thirteen ranks, a joker and packaging. The deck also needed to contain a coherent visual language and implement the design within the fixed framework of the cards.
The Insignia playing cards were designed to showcase a unique visual motif for each suit through the use of patterns. These patterns are stripes, dots, checks, and squiggles. These patterns craft a strong visual identity, offering a fun and geometric fuse to the traditional card structure.
The pips in the middle of each card are arranged on a grid and introduce the pattern, or Insignia, for each suit which help maintain a coherent visual language. The design also includes the suit and rank on all four corners with accessibility and usability in mind.
